We Have Forgotten

On this day 24 years ago, tragedy struck the nation of the United States of America as terrorists hijacked commercial airplanes and flew them into the world trade center, killing hundreds of lives. In the face of such horrific tragedy, the American people demonstrated resilience. We hugged, we mourned, we helped, we served. It didn't matter if you were black, white, Democrat or Republican. We were all Americans first. There was a collective nationalism and patriotic unity we all felt and it helped us heal.

Fast forward 24 years later the day before the anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11, a man is brutally shot while debating his political views in the public square. He dies from his wounds soon after and many leftists are laughing and cheering. Their reasoning? He was a hate monger and white supremacist who held views that put people in danger. This is where we've devolved to as a culture. All thanks to such a poisonous ideology that changes how we see our nation and ourselves. Instead of nationalistic pride and a shared patriotic unity, we're told America is systemically racist and evil. Anyone saying otherwise is racist themselves and hateful. There are even people blaming the right and even Charlie Kirk himself, for his own death. It goes back to the first respond to the first sin: blame-shifting. When God asked Adam if he ate from the tree He commanded Him not to eat from, Adam responded by blaming Eve: "The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” (Genesis 3:12). He didn't take ownership of his sin. This has been the pattern ever since. The law of God is the mirror that shows us our sin, but rather than looking in the mirror, many want to blame shift and point fingers regarding the atrocities of the world, rather than taking a look at themselves. This is done to continue to foster their own perceived righteousness. The people that are celebrating Kirk's death and claiming he was a "fascist, white supremacist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic Nazi bigot" have no way to verify any of these adjectives with any coherent arguments, they just scream into the void, thinking that it will be true, just as much as they repeat endless mantras like "Trans women are women" and  "My body, my choice" as if repetition will magically make it true.

The left has collectively lost the ability to reason. The insults have absolutely no meaning because they have nothing to base them on. Without coming from a biblical worldview, morality has no objective basis therefore whatever insults people hurl are meaningless since they can't objectively prove those things to be true. Can we ever return to the America we were following the events of September 11, 2001? I'd like to say we could, but people's depravity is just too great and they are displaying their hatred of God very clearly. What we can do from this point is share truth with people in the hopes that they will repent and believe the Gospel of Jesus. Sharing truth also includes speaking out against evil. This is what got Charlie Kirk martyred. Make no mistake: people today don't care if you say you believe Jesus as long as it's the sissified, culturally appropriate Jesus of all love and no judgement. The social Jesus. The moment you start talking about the biblical Jesus and begin to apply God's truth to cultural issues like abortion, LGBTQ and immigration, then they begin to hate you. Stay faithful, fellow believers.  And to those reading this who don't believe and may have even hated Charlie Kirk (while ironically claiming to be against hate), I pray that God would soften your heart and that you would no longer trust in your own righteousness because you have none, but only in the righteousness of Jesus Christ alone.
