20 QUESTIONS FOR CHRISTIANS WHO LISTEN TO CANDACE OWENS

Candace Owens is a popular figure right now, particularly among conservatives. There are many who think that she is right on target about what she is saying and there are also many who believe that she is dangerously divisive. As such, this is increasingly becoming a point of contention amongst fellow conservatives and Christians, who may be otherwise likeminded. While discussion and hearing out various perspectives is sometimes helpful and important, I feel like people have already made up their minds about this subject, so I thought I would approach this differently. As Candace is fond of saying, she’s “just asking questions.” So I will do the same. The following is a list of questions that I would like my brothers and sisters in Christ who listen and believe Candace to seriously and prayerfully reflect on.

1. Has listening to Candace Owens brought you closer to the Lord?

2. Has listening to Candace Owens increased your love for the lost or are you becoming increasingly suspicious of the lost?

3. Do you find yourself becoming increasingly suspicious and distrustful of fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, perhaps even your own pastor?

4. Are you still part of a local church where you regularly gather and fellowship or have you abandoned church on the basis of “too much corruption”?

5. How often do you share the Gospel with people as opposed to how much you talk to people about what Candace’s latest theory is?

6. For those people you might feel are secretly corrupt, how burdened are you for their salvation and/or repentance?

7. For the people you believe are corrupt, how often do you pray for them compared to how often you rant online about them?

8. What biblical fruits of the Spirit is Candace Owens outwardly displaying in her public life?

9. Have you talked to your pastor and/or church elders about their thoughts about Candace Owens?

10. Has listening to Candace Owens brought you an increased awareness of your own sinfulness, or do you find yourself pointing out the sins of others more?

11. Since Candace claims to have been a close friend of Charlie’s, what similarities do you see between his interactions with those who disagreed with him and how he conducted his family life compared to her?

12. Do you feel you are generally becoming increasingly jaded and suspicious of people around you?

13. Examine the qualities of both Lady Wisdom and Lady Folly described in the book of Proverbs. Which qualities do you believe Candace exhibits and why?

14. If you believe Candace possesses true salvation, how much has she talked about the Gospel on her podcast compared how much Charlie did?

15. Read the qualities of biblical love based on 1 Corinthians 13. Explain where you see any of these qualities exhibited in Candace’s life, and explain whether you see these qualities increasing or decreasing in your own life, and if so, which ones?

16. In Deuteronomy 19:15, it is stated: "A lone witness is not sufficient to establish any wrongdoing or sin against a man, regardless of what offense he may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses." Where have Candace’s claims been verified by others that aren’t influenced by her? Have other Christians recognized some of the same things she has apart from her influence, and if so, who are they?

17. Is Candace more a picture of the quarrelsome woman in Proverbs 21:19, 25:24) or the Proverbs 31 woman and why?

18. The claim is often made from her supporters that Candace is exposing evil and advancing righteousness. Some could argue the same thing about JK Rowling, who is exposing the foolishness of gender ideology. In that case, Rowling is recognizing God’s design through biology of the distinction between the sexes, despite being an unbeliever, and is exposing the dangers of denying that reality. What specific qualities of biblical righteousness is Candace exhibiting? And does this extend to how she communicates with Christians who question her?

19. Do you believe in the biblical commands of a wife submitting to her husband? If so, why are you listening to a woman who isn’t submitting to her husband? Or better yet, why isn’t her husband leading her?

20. Are you trusting that God is sovereign and will expose evil in His timing, or are you trying to figure it all out on your own?
